Wasn’t 2020 supposed to give us all Ph.D.’s in resiliency to the unknown? As you map out your big goals, ideas, and “Why the hell not’s” in the months and year-ahead, you may look out and feel the flooding of the age-old questions, “Do I have what it takes?” “What if I get lost out there?” that crashes in just when you’re about to step into a new, broader version of yourself. It’s part of the deal. Think of it as a swim test. We all need to take it, or we’ll drown. And once we pass the test, we’re stronger swimmers, and it becomes more fun.
Because I don’t know about you, but fear pops up when I’m lost in myself. When I feel suffocated by thought and drowning in worry in deep, open water. Those are top indicators that I’ve let my mind hijack my body.
The moments I’m awake enough to catch myself, there’s immense relief and deep strength in releasing the heavyweight of the mental cycle, allowing for a natural rise to break the surface and breathe.
Then comes the crystal clear perspective that power comes from the becoming and not the disappearing.
As you head into a new year, remember that we’re all drops and waves of the same ocean. The more you support yourself in becoming the kick-ass person you want to be, the more you support all of us to do the same. A world full of ass-kickers. Imagine that. Fear will tell you otherwise, but that’s because fear is…well, afraid. Oh, sweet, little fear, you look so cute trembling in your life jacket. Sure, I’ll help you to shore. Take my hand.
Here’s to being alive, alert, and awake in 2021. ♥️
